Hedgehog

The Brickworks Museum, Southampton

Since the 1980s hedgehog populations have been in decline. In response to this, the Brickworks Museum ran a series of nature trails with the general public to discover how to create habitats that encourage hedgehogs to the area, and what they can do to help protect the local hedgehog population. This also resulted in the creation of these incredible clay and stick hedgehogs, bringing together the history of the museum, the project, and the surrounding environment.

Thanks to projects like this that protect and encourage hedgehog populations, numbers are starting to suggest that the rate of decline may have slowed, and hedgehog populations may even be on the rise again.
