Shelia the Elephant

Shelia the Elephant

Belvoir Park Primary School, Belfast

This elephant was created by a student at Belvoir Park Primary School during a series of workshops titled 'An Elephant Never Forgets' hosted by the Northern Ireland War Memorial. The workshops told the story of Sheila the elephant, who lived at Belfast Zoo during the Second World War. Participating schools visited the Northern Ireland War Memorial to learn about life during the Second World War and Sheila’s experience of the air raids.

Fun fact! Elephants have the largest brains among land animals. That's why they have excellent memories and are highly intelligent.
